Hugs and Smiles from God

Image
Hello friends! :) Have you ever had an experience when you were reminded that God is with you, without a shadow of a doubt? Maybe you nearly escaped a terrible accident, or had a check come in the mail at the exact time you needed it, or someone shared a Bible verse with you that was just what you needed at that moment. Many times, these incidents strengthen our faith, like a hug or smile from God, reassuring us that He is with us and loves us and has a plan for us. But all too often, in the days, weeks, and months that follow, we forget what God has done for us, and we get discouraged and doubt that God is with us.  Israel often fell into this mistake. They, of all people, had the clearest evidence that God was with them. He parted the Red Sea for them, caused manna to fall from heaven every morning for them, He did so many other things for them, and His presence with them was visible in the form of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Yet they complained against the very...

Sunsets and Change

Image
Hello there! :) My last two posts were a little long, as they were also doubling as Sabbath School Remarks for my church, but this post is shorter, and I hope my posts in the future will be a similar length. Anyway, I hope you are blessed by these thoughts- they are just as much a reminder for me as I hope they are for you. I don't always like change. Sure, some changes are fun and exciting, like making a new friend, turning a special age, or redecorating your room. But usually, the changes we didn't anticipate, the ones that are beyond our control, we seem to have a hard time with. Many times, changes bring endings- and I know that I personally don't like to see good things come to an end. Sometimes I've wished that nothing would ever change, that everything would always stay just like it is.  Not too long ago, on a Friday evening, I was trying to make sure I was ready for Sabbath, and I had a little bit of time to myself. I was going to grab my phone and text my frien...

2023: New Every Morning

Image
January 2nd, 2023. We are beginning a new chapter, titled 2023- a new year. I don’t know about you, but it can be intimidating for me, at least, to face the future. Life is uncertain, and we never know what the future holds. Though we don’t know what this new year will bring, we do know one thing for certain: Christ will always be there. The same Emmanuel that carried us through last year will still be here in 2023. Whatever joy and laughter, pain and sorrow, this year brings, Jesus has promised that He will never leave us, not even for a moment. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is constant, He is always the same- and yet, He offers us grace, mercies, and joy anew every day- like the sunrise, new every morning. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” God’s desire for us is to be made new. He wants to recreate us, so that we are abiding in Him, resting in His love,...

Christmas is a Sonrise

Image
Well, it’s that time of year again. There are lights adorning houses, inside and out; neighborhoods having contests to see who has the best display, stores making big bucks when people get tired of trying to make last year’s lights work… Light is everywhere, but does it make its way into our hearts? Let's take a moment to read the lyrics to a well-known Christmas carol, O Holy Night. O holy night, the stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth; Long lay the world in sin and error pining, 'Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn; Fall on your knees, Oh hear the angel voices! O night divine! O night when Christ was born. O night, O holy night, O night divine. Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming; With glowing hearts by his cradle we stand: So, led by light of a star sweetly gleaming, Here come the wise men from Orient land, The King of Kings lay thus in lo...

And So, The Adventure Begins

Image
Hello there! My name is Hope, and I'm just a normal teenage girl who decided to start a blog. I have a passion for sharing with people (especially other teens!) about how much God loves them, and how valuable they are to Him. Even though this is my second blog (my first one being a hobby blog when I was much younger) I don't have a lot of experience and I'm not sure exactly what this is supposed to look like. I guess I just want to encourage others to pursue a relationship with Jesus, and to rest in His love for them. Every day I am amazed with how patient God is with me, and how He never leaves me even when I fail Him.  I love the sky. Honestly, I could just stare at it for hours. Recently, I've discovered a love for sunrises in particular. I love the picture of those first gleams of light penetrating the dark night sky. To me, the sunrise paints a vivid picture of the love of God: Even in the darkest night, His love breaks through. No matter how dark the situation may...
